Public voting for Totally Groovy-Quilt-Along open!

 My finished Groove quilt!

The public voting period for the Totally Groovy Quilt-Along has begun!  There are some great versions of the quilt here, but hopefully you'll like mine the best and vote for it!

Also, this did make it into the City Quilter Winter/Spring class schedule for February 3rd and 10th.  Sign-ups are not yet available, but mark your calendars!

Knitted Log Cabin

This isn't really quilting related but since I mentioned in my member spotlight that I'd been working on a knitted log cabin blanket, I thought I'd let y'all know that I finished! Finally, it only took me two years....

I'm really happy with how it turned out!

October Block for Bernadette

Bernadette, this was a challenging block for me. After much debate, I decided to go the improv way and I really like how it turned out. Hope it works for you.

I would put this in the mail tomorrow, but I think I will wait for Frankenstorm to pass. If I left it in a mailbox, it might wind up washed up on the shore in France.

Mailing Bee Blocks

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! TAPE YOUR ENVELOPES CLOSED!

I just received a nicely addressed, completely empty envelope.

I don't think I have enough fabric to make up for this loss. Please learn from my mistake!

A Bee Block for Bernadette

Bernadette, I hope you like it!

I must say the stripes were challenging, but very fun!

Tina's blocks

Here are my blocks for Tina.... same 5 just different arrangements.... don't completely show well with wood background, but they're quite eye popping.  Hope they suit you, Tina, and I can't wait to see how you put them all together when you get them.  I'll send mine off this week to you.

Lucky 13 bee openings

Attention guild members! The Lucky 13 Bee has several openings for a new year starting in November. This bee started last year and we've had a lot of fun seeing all the blocks we came up with. If you are interested in joining the bee, please email me at dcatrocho@gmail.com (must be a guild member). Any skill level is welcome- this is a fun way of experimenting and trying new things.

Lucky 13 Bee blocks catch up

Finally getting caught up on all my bee blocks. Heading off to you in the mail, here they are!

For Naomi (August), the leaf fabric you sent us was so wonderful that it reminded me of my trips to Vermont during this time of year. I'm calling this one the "disappearing maple leaf" because it just blends in nicely with the background fabric, just like a whole forest of maple trees in Vermont.

(this photo was taken pre-trimming)

For Greer (Sept.): this block was much harder than it initially looked, but I finally got it to the right size. I really love these colors together and I can't wait to see the finished quilt.

For Tina (Oct.): these were so easy to make, I could have kept going! Love love love the color choices- so vibrant and not something I would be brave enough to choose for myself.
(the photo does not do these colors justice)

Greer's Block

Taking over Karen's place in the NYC Bee 2.  Here's the first block I've done for Greer.

Guild quilt challenge

It was decided at the Ocotber meeting, that we would do a GROUP quilt challenge, using the theme METRO!  Quilts can be done on your own, or with a partner or group... Do your thing!  The only parameter is that the size be consistent... 36" X 48"finished size.

We look forward to seeing what you come up with in June!

Bernadette's Bee Block (October 2012)

I just finished my Bee block for Bernadette!  I used the "Old Italian Block" pattern from the great book, Rotary Cutting Revolution.

A little dizzying but fun!  Enjoy!

October Bee Block for Bernadette

I'm loving being in a Bee because I'm challenged to do things I would probably never do otherwise.  This block is one of those and I loved making it.  Getting the stripes and colors to go in the right direction is not as easy as it looks at first glance!  It will be on its way to you, Bernadette, either today or tomorrow.

Show and Tell

Thomas Knauer challenge Baby Quilts!

We were challenged by Thomas Knauer to make FUNKY MODERN BABY QUILTS from his
Savanna Bop collection. Our first meeting back for the season, produced a fabulous
show and tell of all the quilts!

Enjoy the show!
