C U Soon!

Hey MOD PEEPS, I can't wait to see you guys Saturday! It seems like ages since I've made a meeting!
If any of my pals feel the urge to make me a tiny signature block, please feel free to make and bring to the meeting on Saturday. Here's what I need. THANKS! See ya Saturday! ~Victoria

I've been obsessed lately with big quilts, with small pieces… Last September, I started gathering signature blocks from any quilters I know… And will continue to ask for them when I teach or lecture etc…
So now I realized, I missed a bunch of people this past year that I'd like to have in my quilt...

Have you ever taken  class with me?
...or my come to my lecture?
or met me somewhere along the way,
or not even met me but want to contribute a tiny block?
ha ha!

I'd love to get a signature block from you, for a quilt I'm making…
Pass it on, ask your quilter pals...

cut  TWO - 1.5" X 3.5" strips of ANY SOLID COLOR
(no prints please)
cut ONE - 1.5" X 3.5" strip of WHITE for signature

Sew them together, press seams open….and sign, (fabric pen)
Keeping your signature a 1/4" in on the sides, so it doesn't get cut off in the seam allowance…

I will trim up the block when I receive them all…. don't worry about doing that.

January 2014 Bee Blocks for Brian - Wonky Roman Stripe Blocks

Here's my January Bee Blocks for Brian - Wonky Roman Stripe Blocks or, in my case, maybe not quite so wonky:

If you'd like to know more about making the blocks and their non-wonkiness as always there's a post on my blog made by ChrissieD  :)

wonky roman stripe

A couple of bee blocks for Brian........

Brian sent us instructions for a Modern Roman Stripe Block (they are from a book - just not sure which one!)  These blocks are really large and fun - 15"x15".  He provided different stripes of blue fabrics - don't you just love the blueberries?

These went together really quickly, sewing longer strips to the white triangles.  To trim them up, you use a 15" square of freezer paper, folded diagonally corner to corner....lining up the fold with the seam of the white triangle.  Then you iron the shiny side down to the block and trim to the edges of the paper.  It doesn't shift on you because it is ironed down...cool! And you can re-use the freezer paper "template" for more than one block.

Have fun with these Brian!

Lucky 13 Bee ... calling new members!

There are several members who have decided to drop off this bee (at least for now) and therefore we have room for new!  If you'd like to join us send me your name and info (and if you have a preference of month -- no guarantee) or come to February's meeting and let me know.  If there are a lot of you, we may just start ANOTHER bee.  It's a fun way to try new ideas and share experiences... and get a jump on a project!
