Autumn for Andrea

When given the option, I usually choose applique.  Here is my landscape block for Andrea.  Her fabric is at the bottom, a skyscraper landscape repurposed as tree trunks in the woods.  My recently-tempermental stash (as in, "where the #$!! is that fabric?") was thankfully obedient this week, even coughing up the ombre fabric for the sky.

Lucky Bee Blocks for Andrea

Two fall blocks for Andrea M. -  a bare fall tree in the woods and some falling leaves.  Andrea gave me the background fabric used in the tree block and I was lucky to find fabric from the same line, different pattern, to use for the background for the leaf block.  This was a fun challenge, Andrea!

Lucky Bee 13 - Fall Black for Andrea M

Another Fall inspired block for Andrea. Three leaves, can you see them? The pattern was taken from the book "Flip your Way to Fabulous Quilts", although I had to shrink the leaves to fit them in the requested 4 by 9 inches block. There are so many tiny seams!

I hope you like it, Andrea!

I used up all your fabric for the background but I would love to make you another block. Do you have any more fabric?

Autumn leaves etc. for Andrea Murray

Autumn has my favorite colors, and my favorite objects - leaves - so I had a party with this month's block. The flower is sort of cheating - but it does bloom at the end of the summer, and it was smiling in the share table  . . .

Over two years later...

At long last, I have finished piecing the top that I started in October, 2012! My last post on this project links back to 6 other posts, and somewhere along the line I wrote this update (which links back to another 4 posts), and before that there was this one, which links back to what I think is the first post I ever wrote about this project.

I almost finished piecing it last night, but got slightly distracted and sewed two pieces of the top together! (There's a glaring lesson in not rushing, right? A stitch in time, maybe?) This morning I picked out that last seam and finished it again more carefully:
I am so excited that the piecing is done! Many thanks to Jess Under Quilts and the folks in her Monday Morning Star Count for all the support and inspiration. And thanks to the Metro Mods for great meetings and letting me contribute to this blog!

I decided to quilt the whole thing by hand, since I've come this far with only a few seams of the border done by machine. I look forward to cozying up with a hoop- that will be a nice project for the Fall (and winter? I'm still a slow quilter. ;-).
Happy sewing, everyone!

Lucky Bee 13

Two blocks for Andrea Murray ...
(Jody gave all the info below!)

The one on the left uses Andrea's fabric with some printed Art Gallery  fabric
(which I thought I would never use)!

The one below started out with made fabric which was then slashed with a few solids.
My last five scraps of Andrea's fabric
is fused over this.

FUN!  FUN!  FUN!

Andrea's June block(s)

Andrea asked us to create a block (s) somewhere between 3-4 inches by 9-10 inches that represented the Vermont/New Hampshire fall scene.  We were given one piece of her chosen fabric and asked to add our own and were given freedom to be representational, abstract, traditional, whatever we wanted.  Hope this is what you meant, Andrea
